BackUSU 2026
Posted on: 20/02/2026In the final week before half term, Kenilworth School hosted its annual USU performance — a much-anticipated showcase celebrating the very best musical and dance talent the school has to offer.
USU, which stands for Urban Sounds for Uyogo, is a long-running student charity initiative at Kenilworth School & Sixth Form. Founded in 2004, the project was created to channel students’ creative talents into meaningful fundraising and awareness efforts for development projects in Uyogo, Tanzania. Over the years, USU has grown into a proud tradition within the school, combining performance, leadership and global responsibility.
The annual performance is entirely student-driven, with sixth-form leaders working alongside staff mentors to bring the production to life. Students take responsibility for every aspect of the show — from auditioning and rehearsing performers to managing lighting, sound, staging, front-of-house operations and publicity. The result is not only a polished and entertaining production, but also a powerful real-world learning experience in teamwork, organisation and charity fundraising.
This year’s performances featured a wide variety of acts, highlighting the depth and diversity of talent across the school. Audiences were treated to energetic dance routines, live music, and vocal performances, each met with enthusiastic applause. The sold-out run reflects both the quality of the performances and the continued importance of USU within the Kenilworth community.
Special thanks go to the 2026 USU committee, Mr Shelton, and all of the performers and crew members whose hard work and dedication made this year’s event such a success. Their efforts ensure that the tradition of using creativity for a cause continues to thrive.
