Why Should I Follow This Course?

Mathematics is a highly desirable A-Level for a wide range of university courses and apprenticeships.

You will gain an enhanced understanding of mathematical processes and begin to see the connections between topics.

Mathematics will be complementary to a large number of other subjects. For example: Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Economics and Psychology.

What will I learn?
The course curriculum comprises three elements:

67% Pure Mathematics: Algebraic reasoning, Geometric reasoning, Trigonometry, Logarithms and Exponentials, Calculus

16.5% Mechanics: Newtons Laws, Kinematics, Vectors

16.5% Statistics: Data management, Probability, Statistical Distributions

Entry Requirements:
Students need at least a Grade 6 in GCSE Mathematics.
We also invite all applicants to sit a diagnostic assessment in June, so that we can advise them on an appropriate pathway.

Students scoring below 40% are advised to consider if there may be an alternative, more accessible pathway to their career goals, as it is likely they will struggle to access the more challenging aspects of the curriculum.

Students scoring between 40% and 60% are required to complete additional work over the summer break to help them access the A-Level course.

Students scoring above 85% may be encouraged to consider the Further Mathematics option.
