What will I study?

You will apply your knowledge and understanding to different business contexts ranging from small enterprises to large multinationals and businesses operating in local, national and global markets.

You will develop an understanding of how these contexts impact on business behaviour.

You will apply your knowledge and understanding to business decision making including the nature of business activity, influences on business, business operations, finance, marketing and human resources, and how these topics underpin business decision making.

Why study the course?

We are looking to develop enterprising individuals with the ability to think commercially and creatively to demonstrate business acumen, and draw on evidence to make informed business decisions and solve business problems. You will learn how to apply knowledge and understanding to contemporary business issues and to different types and sizes of businesses in local, national and global contexts.

Level 2 – BTEC Award


What will I study?

BTECs are vocationally related qualifications, where learners develop knowledge and understanding by applying their learning and skills in a work-related context.

BTECs are popular and effective because they engage learners to take responsibility for their own learning and to develop skills that are essential for the modern-day workplace.

These skills include: teamworking; working from a prescribed brief; working to deadlines; presenting information effectively; and accurately completing administrative tasks and processes.

Why study the course?

It will encourage personal development of knowledge and skills relevant to the business world through practical participation in a range of vocational business activities

It will develop your people, communication, planning and team-working skills

It will give you the opportunity to enter employment in the business sector or to progress to other vocational qualifications, such as the BTEC Level 3 Nationals in Business

It will give you the opportunity to develop a range of skills and techniques,

How will the course be taught?

Through a range of diverse activities, including assignment and project work, case studies, role play and presentations. Activities will reflect the nature of work within the business sector by encouraging learners to research and carry out assessment in the workplace, or in simulated working conditions, wherever possible. We will use local business examples wherever possible, and engage with local employers for support and input. This allows a more realistic and motivating basis for learning about the business world.
