The Connect Course is suitable
for students who have gained a number of C and D grades at GCSE.
The course is aimed at students who are not ready for A level courses
but wish to study subjects that will aid them in future courses
or provide them with the skills to gain future employment.
Organisation
and Content of the Course
This is a one
year vocational course. Each student will study
• Diploma
in Business which is equivalent to 4 GCSEs and is assessed by coursework
only. This will include visits to experience local businesses at
work.
• First
National Award in ICT worth up to 2 GCSEs all assessed by coursework
including a multi-media unit.
• GCSE
English & Maths to improve grades if necessary.
• PSH&C
• Enrichment
or other activities on Wednesday afternoons
Are
there any specific entry requirements?
You must gain
a number of GCSE passes preferably C, D and E grades. Students will
be expected to demonstrate a commitment to their courses and you
will benefit from being taught in small group sizes.

What can I do after completing this course?
The course keeps
your career options open and with enhanced qualifications you can
go on to study AS levels, AVCE’s, BTEC courses or enter employment
