Music - Curriculum - Kenilworth School and Sports College

The Music Department has a high status both in school and in the local community, with well equipped teaching and practice rooms which include:

A comprehensive and popular extra-curricular programme with regular events throughout the year.
19 instrumental teachers with over 250 pupils taking lessons each week.
A dedicated music computer suite for KS3 and 4 running Logic Express and Sibelius.
dedicated music computer suite for KS5 running Sibelius and Logic Pro.
Recording studios at both the Castle Sixth Form and Leyes Lane site.
Our own set of steel pans.

Extra-curricular Activities

There are always plenty of opportunities to be involved in the department; if you have any questions regarding any musical matters please contact one of the music staff. Recent events include:

Christmas Concert and Summer Concert, both involving over 100 pupils.
String Orchestra trip to Paris
String Orchestra performance in the final of the National Music for Youth competition
Battle of the Bands
West Side Story , this year’s school musical
Numerous performances in school to support events
Numerous performances in the community and primary schools
Concerts organized by students, such as the 6th form concert and the year 10 concert

County Music Service / Music Centre

We are proud of our close links with the music service who use the facilities at Leyes Lane to offer a huge range of instrumental lessons and other musical activities during the evenings and at weekends.
