The
Technology Faculty consists of a suite of rooms comprising
two Food areas, two Textiles areas, three Resistant Materials
workshops, a Systems and Control room and two dedicated
computer suites (one with Internet access) which are for
the sole use of the faculty. In addition to these facilities,
the Castle Post16 Centre also has specialist areas for work
in Resistant Materials and Textiles and a resource area
which includes ICT facilities with Internet access.

The
staffing structure for the faculty consists of a Head of Faculty,
a Second in Faculty who is also in charge of Post 16 developments,
KS4 developments, ICT / Industrial links and KS3 Assessment.
There are nine full time staff and two part time members of
staff who are supported by three technicians. |
At
Post16, we are offering AQA Design and Technology –
Product Design in Resistant Materials or Textiles at “AS
/ A2” Level.
The Faculty has a policy of makin-g educational visits to
support classroom teaching. These include visits to London
museums, exhibitions, NEC shows and trips abroad eg. Italy
/ France for Y10 food pupils. Staff are encouraged to support
these initiatives and other aspects of curriculum development
eg. new resources, ideas for course improvements and expenditure.
