The Technology Faculty consists of a suite of rooms comprising two Food areas, two Textiles areas, three Resistant Materials workshops, a Systems and Control room and two dedicated computer suites (one with Internet access) which are for the sole use of the faculty. In addition to these facilities, the Castle Post16 Centre also has specialist areas for work in Resistant Materials and Textiles and a resource area which includes ICT facilities with Internet access.

The staffing structure for the faculty consists of a Head of Faculty, a Second in Faculty who is also in charge of Post 16 developments, KS4 developments, ICT / Industrial links and KS3 Assessment. There are nine full time staff and two part time members of staff who are supported by three technicians.

At Post16, we are offering AQA Design and Technology – Product Design in Resistant Materials or Textiles at “AS / A2” Level.
The Faculty has a policy of makin-g educational visits to support classroom teaching. These include visits to London museums, exhibitions, NEC shows and trips abroad eg. Italy / France for Y10 food pupils. Staff are encouraged to support these initiatives and other aspects of curriculum development eg. new resources, ideas for course improvements and expenditure.
