The Learning Resource Centre (Leyes Lane)
The Learning Resource Centre (LRC) is very popular among the students. Students have free access to the LRC before school (from 8am), during breaks and lunchtime, they may also have classes in the LRC.
The LRC has over 9,000 resources supporting all areas of the curriculum, as well as hobbies and leisure interests. The fiction collection covers all genres and is selected with the age group in mind to encourage reading for pleasure. Resources available comprise books, DVDs, popular magazines along with national and local newspapers. There are 20 computers available for student use along with print and photocopying facilities.
New students are given an induction to help them locate and use the resources. The LRC is staffed by a qualified librarian, two Learning Resource Assistants and student librarians.
We hold book events, author visits and participate in local and national ones like Warwickshire Secondary School Book Award, Carnegie shadowing, World Book Day and other literary activities to promote reading and library use throughout the year. We have also been holding a LRC treasure hunt during lunchtimes to help the students find their way around the LRC.
