We offer two courses at GCSE level:
  • Business and Communication System
  • Information and Communication Technology
  • Business and Communication Systems is an applied course that allows pupils to gain ICT skills that are related to a business environment. Pupil's learn to use all of the major applications and are well prepared to use them at a vocational and professional level. The course is practical and highly structured. Business and Communication Systems is available in school time and after school. It does not contain a project development aspect.

Full details of the specification for this course is available from the exam board:

  • ICT is an option available in school time. It has a very heavy project component (60%) and is only suitable for students who have very good literacy and numeracy skills. It leads on naturally to A-level ICT in the sixth form. Pupils develop skills in all areas of ICT through practical project work. There are two projects to undertake: One a fully guided Board Set Task and the second, a pupil focussed piece of work.

Both of the GCSE courses are popular and usually oversubscribed. In both courses we aim to provide each student with access to their own computer.
